15 Week Bumpdate

15 Week Bumpdate

It’s time for another bumpdate!

I can’t believe I am nearing the half-way mark. I don’t feel pregnant enough, honestly. This pregnancy is simultaneously moving too slow AND too fast. When I start actually trying to picture baby, I get so excited, and am just ready to get through the next few months so I can meet him/her! However, there are still so many things left to do and learn that I am also ready to keep baby cooking in there for a while longer! I want to be sure that Hubs and I are prepared as much as possible before labor and delivery day. Another major goal, for me, is to get myself in shape! The first trimester left me feeling very, very weak after months of lots of sleep, no exercise, and less than ideal foods. I really want to feel strong before baby comes.

How far along: 15 weeks! Almost to the four-month mark. Eek!

Due date: August 29th

Gender: We don’t know. I think we are narrowing it down in the girl’s name department, but we still have no idea on a boy’s name.

How are you feeling? This week, I FINALLY got over what I thought was my last round with this troublesome cold, but then I came down with it AGAIN. So this week found me in bed with my humidifier humming, my lotion kleenex’s filling up the trash can, a hot towel on my sore ear, and vick’s applied to my feet. I feel like I’ve been sick for the last six weeks with this cold/sinus infection/ear infection, and I am so ready for it to go away for good!  As far as food is concerned, I am a lot pickier about foods at dinnertime, because I just feel a bit more pukey in the evenings. I have also been having quite a lot of cramps/round ligament pain. My belly seems to have finally started to make its appearance, and it seems like I just have had a lot of growing pains. I spent a lot of time googling “cramps during pregnancy” until I had read enough articles saying that it was totally normal (especially in weeks 14-20) that I put my mind at ease. I am trying to drink a lot more water, and rest a bit more to try to calm my cramps down.

Purchases I’ve made/books I’m reading: I haven’t been getting enough water. SO in an effort to be healthier in this second trimester, I purchased this awesome preggo water bottle. I get very motivated by deadlines, and competition (even with myself) so this bottle has already helped me dramatically increase my water intake!

How big is baby? Baby L is now 4 inches long, and the size of an apple. He/She has gained an inch in the last two weeks! Whew! No wonder I’ve been so tired. It’s hard work adding an inch to a baby. 🙂

This week, baby: Baby can now sense light (if I was to hold a flash light to my belly, he/she would move away from it), Baby is forming his/her taste buds, and he/she is practicing breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid.

Maternity clothes: Nada. I have officially outgrown a few pairs of jeans/business pants. So there’s that. However, I think it’ll be awhile before I truly need to buy any maternity clothes.

Sleep: Still sleeping well!

Exercise: I went on one walk with Hubs this week. My legs felt like jelly afterwards, which just goes to show how out of shape I’ve become in the last few weeks. I am going to try to get a few more exercise sessions in this week!15 Week Bumpdate

Best moment this week: Hubs and I finally started talking about names. I’ve tried to get him to talk with me about them, but he’s been cagey about it. He’s probably been afraid that it would be hard for us to decide on one. Ha ha! He finally started opening up about names, and we are definitely making progress! I, also, had a great conversation with my Mom about all things pregnancy/labor/baby which was so fun. 🙂

Worst moment this week: Feeling off in the evenings, and throwing up in the parking lot…again…

Miss anything? I do miss not being a slave to food. Seriously, if I allow myself to get even a bit hungry then I am in trouble! Empty stomach = nausea. I carry food with me everywhere I go, and if I get hungry then all social conventions go out the window.

Movement: Still unsure. I might have felt Baby move this week, but I am not one hundred percent certain. I’ve read that a lot of women start feeling movement in week 16 (which is just a week away!) so I am hoping the day will come soon when I know that is what I am feeling.

Cravings: guacamole with lots of fresh garlic, hot sauce, and tons of lime juice, chocolate milk, iced lemonade, watermelon and kiwifruit. I bought a $7 watermelon, and I knew it wouldn’t be that good this time of year, but I had to have it. It wasn’t very flavorful but I ate it so fast! It tasted so good.

Symptoms: Cramping, round ligament pain, quick gag reflex, strong sense of smell, and still randomly vomiting once or twice a week.

Looking forward to: spring break is this week! I’ll have a week off from teaching, and I am so excited about it!

What are you looking forward to this week?

  1. New to your blog! Congratulations on the baby. I have 3 boys and I remember the 15 week mark with my first the most. I top had a hard time narrowing names for the baby except I couldn’t find girl names we liked. We got lucky because we ended up with a boy. I never got morning sickness, but night time sickness was a jerk. Best wishes in your pregnancy. I can’t wait to hear more!

  2. oh m y goodness, i want that water bottle!! I feel like I drink a lot of water, but I think I would get competitive with the markers and really kill my water intake if I bought it.

I didn’t feel the first for-sure kick until week 17, but week 18 & 19 I have been feeling him/her kick ALL.THE.TIME. It’s so fun!! You’re going to love it!!!

  3. Oh please, let’s get together some evening soon! Are you still hungry for spaghetti and meatballs? Because I’ve been hungry for them ever since you wrote about them in a prior bump date post. I love this series and I love seeing that sweet little bump in your pictures!
