Warrior Man and I are working, and living in Wyoming this summer. He is living in a loft apartment, and I am living with my Aunt and Uncle. We miss our families dreadfully, but have been hurriedly refilling our bank accounts for college this fall.
Warrior Man has been working as a Lumberjack out in the woods, and I have been working as an Electrician’s Apprentice. We are sweating away at these jobs so that we can head back to school, and continue our education in Music Education {him}, and Theatre {me}.
Here are some pictures of the {drum roll please} Musical Lumberjack, and the Energized Thespian. Taking on the world one day at a time.
As I took these pictures I was reminded of nature walks my Mom, sibs, and I would all take. We would all have our sketch books, and cameras–and identify various plants afterwards. One time we even saw a fox! I have caught few animals with my camera, but I hope you enjoy the beauty of these pictures, and perhaps today might be a good day for you to grab up a snack, a camera, or a sketch book and go exploring!
[Tweet “A perfect picture of the character of Wyoming: a happy elderly man, on his weathered four-wheeler, with his faithful chocolate lab. Just soaking in the beauty of the day.”]
The past few weeks have been crazy for us–filled with long days of work, and trips to the gym afterwards. That is what makes the weekends all the more important. What have you been up to this summer? Can you help me identify any of this flora that escape me?
Hey Bethie!
Your yellow flower appears to be “Yellow Avalanche Lily” …Erythronium Grandiflorum
Maybe? I can’t tell for sure without seeing the leaves.
Aunt Annie
Hey Aunt Annie! Aha! I think you have found the answer to this persistent question. I will take a picture of the leaves, but I think you are correct. Thanks!
How awesome. With nature like that you are sure to have a pretty great summer. I love them all but I have to say the fungi was pretty cool. I tend to take lots of pictures of random fungi and I’ve never seen that here in South Georgia.
I, too, have a fascination for fungi! I bet you have different types there in South Georgia. Thanks for the comment, and keep on taking pictures, Rebecca!
These images of Wyoming fuel a desire in me to visit the United States and see all the amazing landscapes and heritage sites in your country. You’re right about those rusting trucks. Who’d have thought decay could look so ‘artistic’. It must be such a healthy place to live as well, far from the big cities and pollution.
I especially like the river scenes. Bodies of water, f any kind, have a special draw for me. Great photos and update! 🙂
Hello Edward! You should certainly visit the United States at some time. There are many incredible sites, and every state is vastly different from the next one. I have a fervent desire to visit Europe, as well. I have been to New Zealand, and Mexico, but have never been anywhere else outside of the states. Travelling is just so important, and I think it definitely enlarges a person’s worldview. Let me know if you ever make it out here! Thanks for the comment, and enjoy your day.
Oh wow, such beautiful pictures! I am sure that forest was amazing, I am so jealous that I don’t have anything like that around. I am a person who loves nature, but recently I moved to a big city and honestly I am tired to see all that concrete every day. 🙂
Hugs,
Rally

Hey Rally! I am so glad you have as fervent a love for nature as I do. I have never lived in a big city before, but I imagine that there are many beautiful things about living there as well. I checked out your blog, and I think it is such a clever idea to review beauty products! A lovely blog. I will be sure to check back. Thanks for the sweet comment, and hope you can get out into the country to enjoy nature again soon!
Wow, I’m just in awe of these photos! Beautiful place and beautiful people. 🙂 You have me stumped on that little yellow flower. If you post a picture of the leaves, that’ll help narrow the field. As it were. Love you, sweetie! <3
Thanks, Mom! I will go out, and take a picture of those leaves in the next day or two. I spent considerable time trying to find a name for that flower, but even searching Google with the image brought no results! How peculiar. Love you, too!
These are wonderful pictures. I’ve only been to Wyoming once, many years ago. I’m sorry, I do not recognize the wildflower. I have a feeling, seeing the Oregon grape, that a lot of your wildflowers may differ from what you are used to in Nebraska. Have a wonderful summer. I’ve added you to my blogroll and followed you by email, and will look forward to more of your posts.
Thanks, Alana! A lot of the wildflowers are vastly different from the ones in Nebraska. I am going to keep an eye on the Oregon grapes, and see if I can gather their berries later in the summer. Thanks for the add to the blogroll! Enjoy your day!
You have such a beautiful perspective! I love your pictures and posts. You always remind me to slow down and find the beauty in life!
Thank you for reading! You have the sweetest spirit of anyone I know, Nathana. So glad to know you. Hope you are having a wonderful day, and enjoying your summer!
What wonderful pictures! And your story is inspiring. I’m a teacher getting ready for summer break and looking forward to a summer that’s not my normal routine. What makes weekends and any break wonderful is they give you the time to try new things.
Enjoy your summer.

Hey Karen! Thanks for the sweet comment. Teaching is such an important job, but a busy one, and I bet you are ready for your break. I hope you have an incredible summer, filled with rest, and adventures {but only the good kind}. All the best!
