27 Week Bumpdate with Baby #2

You guys, three months from the day I am writing this is my due date (insert excited squeal).

And I have only one week left in the second trimester?!

Yowza.

There is still so much to do before this baby comes, that I am going to be cramming as much as I can in before the big day arrives. A few things I want to get done:

  • Get a minivan (Check!)
Secure an apartment (Check! Although the landlord keeps changing our move-in date. Big sigh.)
  • Move (hopefully the end of June)
  • Throw Gideon a fun birthday party when he turns 2
  • Gather together all my birth/postpartum supplies
  • Get Gideon’s baby book all filled out
  • Read all the birth books

As you can see, I have a lot to keep me busy for these next few months.

But enough about my personal to-do list, let’s get on with this week’s bump date!

How far along: 27 weeks (only one week left of the second trimester!)

Books I’m Reading: I finished Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and The Birth Book. I’ve also finished Mama Natural’s Week-to-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth. I have a tall stack of books my sis-in-law lent me to read, and I just ordered Cut, Stapled and Mended, and The Baby Name Bible.

Due date: August 23

Gender: It’s a surprise!

How big is baby?  Baby is as big as a cabbage. Baby is about 14 inches long and weighs around 1.9 lbs.

This week, baby: practicing breathing, and working on growing his/her brain!

Exercise: Still going on daily walks of 1-3 miles.

What I’m googling: pictures of 27-week-old babies. It is amazing to me how beautifully developed they are even at this stage!

Purchases I’ve made: I finally broke down and bought two maternity shirts at Wal-Mart, because I was desperate. I usually buy all my clothing at the 99-cent sale at Goodwill, but I never have any luck finding maternity clothes at thrift stores in our town. There’s just a tiny little section of old clothes that aren’t even in my size. This weekend I’m heading to the big city with Mom and sis to hit up all the Goodwills there, so I am hoping that I will find a new maternity wardrobe! Fingers crossed! If not, I might have to resort to buying new, which is something I really dislike doing.

I did find a whole new summer wardrobe for Gideon at a neighboring city’s garage sale day this past weekend! Jammies, shorts, shirts, and all for $3 total. That’s why I love garage sales! I came home, and reorganized his little clothing drawer, and it made me so happy to see all those clothes lined up so prettily. Did I mention I am nesting hardcore right now?

How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good!

Sleep: Still sleeping really well.

Best moment this week: Getting a bunch of to-dos crossed off my list.

Movement: Lots of crazy movement!

Cravings/Eating: I’ve been craving peanut butter oatmeal cookies lately! I cut the sugar way down in the recipe, and make a big batch. Gideon loves them too.

Symptoms: weekly headache/neck pain.

What questions do you have for me?
